This has led to those in the deathcare industry to be secretive, timid and develop a mom and pop mindset that slowly leads to business closure. We all want business security and to be able to leverage the freedoms entrepreneurship provides. Not to be left out is our passion to have an impact in the communities we serve. However, the realities of running a business require shifting our mindsets, investing in our business, developing strategic partners and long-term thinking in order to become a sustainable, generational funeral home. I’ve wanted to run my own business ever since I was old enough to work. Yet, I knew for me to succeed I had to operate at the level of excellence. So I became a voracious learner. I took in anything and everything with the sole focus of making myself better so I can deliver excellence to my clients. I succeed in that front, almost too well.

For my entire career I worked with majority minority owned businesses getting them to points I wanted to get to. The desire to leverage my skills to help others gain the benefits of entrepreneurship coupled with my own stubbornness caused me to make some bad decisions that almost shut me down. Perhaps you’ve ventured down that road, after all, we all have hearts. But, we can’t help others if our doors are closed. Therefore, I want to help you keep that from happening.

Part of my mantra is that effective design can differentiate a business when it’s an integral part of business strategy. I created and grew my first in-house brand, Cherished Keepsakes, on that foundation. The communities we serve deserve excellence. That’s best delivered through branding. Yet, many minority firms have a lack of access to agency-level creative to transform their business into a brand.
